Animal Policy
For the health, safety, and comfort of the patrons and staff of the Charlton Public Library, the presence of animals in the library building or on Library grounds is restricted.
To ensure compliance with the 1990 Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it is the policy of the Charlton Public Library to prohibit all animals from entering the Library with the exception of assistance animals and animals featured in programs sponsored by the Library. People who wish to bring animals into the library for a private function must obtain prior approval from the Library Director or his/her designee.
Any animal entering the Library or Library grounds must be controlled by a responsible adult at all times. Unattended animals, inside or outside the Library, shall not be permitted; the town’s Animal Control Officer may be called. The clean-up and/or repair of damage caused by an animal, and any costs incurred for said clean-up and/or repair, shall be the responsibility of the animal’s owner.
Adopted by the Board of Library Trustees on March 21, 2023.
