Charlton Public Library is excited to offer the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program!

This nationwide program is a fun, free way to build your child's early literacy skills, and we're here to help. The goal is simple: read 1,000 books to your child before they enter kindergarten, and help them climb the ladder to reading success!

1,000 books may sound like a lot, but if you read one book each day, you'll meet your goal in under three years. Read three books each day, and you'll reach it in under a year! All books count, no matter how many times you've read them or who is reading them to your child. Your child will earn incentives along the way to encourage them to keep reading!

Children from birth to age five can sign up in the Children's Room at the Charlton Public Library starting January 22. You'll receive a folder, bookmarks, reading logs, and a fun bag to help you carry your library books home. Please email Kathy McGrath at kmcgrath@cwmars.org with any questions.

This program is made possible by a generous donation from the Friends of Charlton Public Library.
